Dear Younger Me - Mother's Day 2025

Happy Mother's Day to ALL the mamas out there! Grateful for a lil snapshot at brunch with my crew!!
Happy Mother's Day to ALL the mamas out there! Grateful for a lil snapshot at brunch with my crew!!

May marks the beginning of blooming flowers, longer days, and—most importantly—a celebration of motherhood. As I sit with a warm cup of coffee and reflect on my own motherhood journey, I can’t help but think about those early days when the kids were little, the diaper bag was always full, and my nerves felt frayed by the noise, the mess, and the relentless pressure to do it all.

If I could go back and whisper some truths to that younger version of me, here’s what I’d say:

1. Take care of YOU so you can take care of them.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. Your rest, your meals, your peace, your joy—those things matter. You matter. When you feel good, you give better.

2. Heal you to heal them.

Your kids don’t need you to be perfect, but they do need you to be whole. Your willingness to work through your wounds teaches them it's safe and brave to do the same. Generational healing starts with one bold heart—maybe that heart is yours.

3. Motherhood is all about unlearning and learning.

There’s no manual for this. You’re not failing—you’re figuring it out. Be willing to unlearn what no longer serves and stay curious enough to keep learning. Let growth be your legacy.

4. You're doing great. (And sometimes you're not… and that’s okay too.)

You don’t have to get it right every time. Just show up. Learn from the moments that break you, and show up again. Grace is your greatest tool.

5. They don’t need “more” – they just need YOU.

They won’t remember every toy, event, or meal. But they will remember hugs, stories at bedtime, your laughter, your high-fives. They want presence, not perfection.

6. Plant seeds today that will bloom later.

Motherhood is not a sprint. It’s a long game of love and legacy. The gentle words, the hard boundaries, the daily rhythms—they may not "pay off" today, but one day you'll see the garden you planted.

7. Mama Bear Energy: Trust your instincts and question the norm.

Just because it’s how you were raised—or how “everyone does it”—doesn’t make it right for your family. Know WHY you do what you do. "When you know better, you do better." Think generationally.

8. Talk BIG picture.

Teach your kids to anchor themselves in something bigger than you—because someday you won’t be right there. Show them where to turn when they face fear, doubt, or hurt. God. Nature. Faith. Truth.

9. Keep it simple.

Sunshine. Water. Good food. Fresh air. Sleep. Love. Kids don’t need a Pinterest-perfect life. They need rhythm, nourishment, and connection. Cut the junk. Make space for the good.

10. Enjoy it.

Yes, it’s messy. Yes, it’s exhausting. But you don’t get this back. Laugh more. Let them stay up late and chase fireflies. Jump in the pool. Make the pancakes. Say YES to magic.

A MAY CHALLENGE FOR MAMAS:

This month, BE IN the moments. Make time for PLAY. Stop stressing about the to-do's & summer schedule (it's going to go great). Put the phone down. Take a walk. Laugh till your belly hurts. Enjoy some self care or bubble bath. Write in your journal. Talk to God.

What if this was your last summer? I know! It's kind of morbid or scary to think of but it gets you in a grateful state and prioritized perspective quickly. What memories would you want to make? What would be on your family's dream summer list? Where would you go? What would you do? How would you live? -- Now make a bucketlist & make some MAGIC!

Let May be the month we choose presence over pressure. Simplicity over stress. Joy over juggling. Let’s create a Summer of FUN!!

We are not just raising kids. We are raising humans who will remember how they were loved. Let that guide you. Plant seeds of hope, faith, & love! Enjoy the ride!
